Restaurant 'au Château'

First of all, the restaurant is located in a historic Chateau and has a unique historical ambience. One can feel the weight of centuries in the room. The charming dining room, balancing history with modern comfort, is simply delightful. We visited during off peak season and had reservations for our first night in the area. We were greeted by Arthur, who was kind and informative, making us comfortable immediately. They had a small but well curated bottle list as well as good glass pours and pairings. As we knew nothing about the restaurant going in, we were delightfully surprised by everything. There were two different curated dinner experiences as well as the ability to order a la carte. We chose a nice bottle and selected one of each curated menu so that we could try everything. Afterward, Arthur brought out a three part amuse bouche, followed by yet another amuse bouche and the journey began. What became clear over the evening is that the restaurant was open and operating solely for us on this magical evening. The chef, Sion, took care to make everything gluten free for us. Dish after dish came out well prepared, well plated, and delicious. From the started to the desserts, we were pleased with everything. We would have gladly dined there again, but they were closed for the following days of our stay. When I asked for alternate recommendations, Arthur consulted Sion and came back with a hand written list of 8 different restaurants along with which days each one was open. We literally could not have asked for better service and greater consideration. Additionally, Arthur had procured a number of bottles of different Chartreuse variations, including some that I hadn’t seen before. Upon discovering my enjoyment of Chartreuse, Arthur offered us a dram of something wonderfully unfamiliar to send us on our way. I would gladly dine here again when in the area, and would whole heartedly recommend it for anyone looking for fantastic food served with real heart in a unique setting. Such a fantastic restaurant. The food is amazing and the setting, in summer, in the courtyard if the chateau is so lovely and iconic. Such friendly and welcoming staff too. Highly recommend.

We came for lunch on a Friday. It was lovely. Despite having to take care of a very large group, the staff were efficient, took time to chat to us even though we could see they were really busy and we're both knowledgeable and helpful. The food had a lovely home cooked feel to it even though it was still very elegant and beautifully prepared. Will definitely come back for an evening.
